Vietnam’s industrial development is flourishing – with an effect on its import economy. The number of machines, machinery parts and industrial equipment imported, increases steadily. Within Asia, China is one of the main suppliers for Vietnam. The Karl Gross specialists for project logistics in Vietnam and China work hand in hand and realize transport solutions door-to-door for such high, long, wide and heavy cargo.
Lately, our Chinese and Vietnamese project logistics specialists handled another break bulk shipment all way down the transport chain: our Chinese experts managed the pre-carriage from the factory to the port of Shanghai. From there, the over dimensional freight was shipped to Vietnam via breakbulk vessel, where our Vietnam team took over. They personally supervised the cargo’s handling in the port of discharge and continued their supervision until the freight had securely reached the consignee in the province Hung Yen.
Two colleagues travelled from Ho Chi Minh City to North Vietnam for giving support.
“As special handling was needed for the oversized yet sensitive shipment, we decided to supervise all transport operations on site. This meant night shifts automatically included”, Lam Thi Thanh Bong, General Manager of Karl Gross Vietnam, explains. Two colleagues from Ho Chi Minh City travelled to North Vietnam for supporting the team on site. “Our teams received and took over the shipment at the port and also supervised the on-carriage. In preparation, our Haiphong team had applied for all permissions relevant for the transport on road.”
Logistics concepts for extraordinary solutions
Huge, heavy and sensitive: when realizing transport solutions for machines, machinery parts and/or industrial equipment, it often takes extraordinary solutions to create beneficial logistics processes. “Our experience shows that logistics concepts laid-out and handled ‘under one roof’ often prove to be an advantageous option”, Lam Thi Thanh Bong explains.
“Our specialists are on both sides of the transport chain, having the know-how for example regarding infrastructural particularities in the specific country. This allows us to provide an all-around concept and supervision.” And very important for the consignee: “status reports are communicated in the national language – at all times.”
In both countries – China and Vietnam – the Karl Gross Group is present with several offices: Shanghai, Shenzhen and Qingdao in China and Ho Chi Minh City and Haiphong in Vietnam. “All teams are linked to each other very well”, Lam Thi Thanh Bong says.
